How To Contribute

From EternalRealms

Jump to: navigation, search

There are many ways to contribute to Eternal Realms; there's basically something for everyone. This list is not inclusive, it's just what we could brainstorm out as things that need to be done. If you've got a skill or enjoy doing something that you think could help the project, send me an email! Likewise, if you have any questions or want more details on how you can help, email me. My email is kort0061 at umn.edu.

Artwork

Concept Art

Concept artwork is used to inspire people and get them excited about the worlds that Eternal Realms make possible. They may also be used as art on the website or appear as splash screens in game.

Also, web images such as banners or link buttons would be great as well.

Feel free to take a look at our existing concept art, which is fairly poorly sorted at this point.

Sprite art

These are the images that appear in game, this can include items, people, and terrain. For examples, look at our Tiles. If you're up to it, you can even try something more ambitious, like designing an AutoTile. These look really impressive in the game!

Our current tileset system uses 40x40 pixel tiles to represent items and units of terrain. Mobiles, such as people and animals may be multiple tiles wide. In addition, we could always use art for our World Pieces, which represent static pieces of terrain like big rocks and trees.

Programming

It would be particularly nice to have another programmer. I'm looking for people who have some skill in java development and have already worked on a decent sized project at least once.

Music Composition

Documentation Writing

Documenting code

Guides on how to use the program

Tutorials on using the builders, creating items, building areas.

Lore

Lore is the history and the culture of the world and the people and creatures that inhabit it. There is central development coordinated by Sunderland, but much work is needed in terms of story, characters and places in the world, etc. PM Sunderland through the forums for details.
